My philosophy towards art is focused on the ability to communicate subjective experiences though a single image. Decision making is the most important aspect of my process, with medium, color palette, stylization, size, and clarity guide the audience to understand or question the subject and emotion of the piece. I draw on the feelings, struggle and joy, from my life, with specificity imbuing power into a narrative. Identity, mental health, and growing up with the internet are common themes that express themselves in various ways throughout my works. These experiences act as a core to build around, using symbols and inspiration from commercial art like comics and animation, art history, and observations from the environment to act as a bridge and anchor for myself and the audience. More than anything, a unifying atmosphere is the foundation of the piece, on which I either meticulously plan out the piece or let the piece emerge though the process. My process covers a range of media, most often digital illustration, acrylic painting, oil painting, watercolors, gouache, graphite, and inks, and emphasizes speed and experimentation.
My painting series explores the odd contrast between eeriness and cuteness. These visual traits are often used to contrast, being thematically opposites, but often can bleed into each other in a way that adds depth that both draws an audience in and makes them uncomfortable. The "Call of the Void" that has engrossed me in this combination can be used to express a variety of narratives, channeling fears and connecting to interest considered unappealing.
